Beliefs about Socioeconomic Mobility and Inequality
This project investigates how young children develop beliefs about poverty and social mobility. We are partnering with libraries across San Diego County to understand how parents and children reason about social mobility through a short field experiment. Our preliminary data reveal that even elementary-aged children reason about economic inequality and upward mobility in nuanced ways that reflect real-world neighborhood and housing inequality.
